Funemployed

The image above perfectly depicts my everyday struggle for the past two weeks, nearly two months after my graduation. I could not get out of bed. I was practically unmotivated.

Sure, I could cut some slack, give myself well-deserved rest and ample time to do all that I wanted but failed to do, but it feels weird... to be unproductive.

I have let employment opportunities and job interviews pass by. (I have not sent my application to any company yet, to be honest, but I had been receiving calls and emails regularly.) My close friends and my fellow graduates would update me with their stories of job applications, examinations, and interviews. Some are now earning their cash. And I am, well, still at home. Unemployed. Bum. And, basically, cash-less.

I took the time to reflect at how much I have matured, how far I have gone, and how much have changed in my life. There were bitter experiences and issues I have yet to address, there were why-venture-into-media-practice-when-you-could-live-an-easier-life-in-some-other-industry regrets, and these somehow made me lose sight of all the things that I can be.

For quite some time, I felt so low, doubting my own abilities.

I needed a change of perspective.

And I am truly grateful for good friends who stayed with me through all this “drama”, who taught me to appreciate myself more and live one moment at a time.

Who ever said unemployment cannot be fun? Ma’am Lucille of Probe was right, after all. I deserve this vacation for when I start working, there would no longer be rest days for me.

Thank You, Lord. It is true: I am too blessed to be stressed.
