Pat’s graduation: One step closer

It has been over a month since my high school friend Patrick graduated.

We’ve known each other since grade school, and, although we only became close in high school, I’ve always known about his dream of being a priest. Patrick’s graduation is one proud moment not only to his parents but also to us, his friends who have been with him through all these years.

I came from a meeting in the university that day and was unsure of the route to take. I called Joey.

CM: Can we meet somewhere? Pick me up at SM North EDSA. I am coming from the university, on my way now, will be taking the LRT.
Joey: Wait, sister dear, choppy ka. Tsaka bakit mo 'ko ini-English? Hahahaha.

Anyhow, they picked me up at Jollibee.

During that time, I was practically voiceless... for, like, a month.

Ana had a quirky remark, “Cherry, ano nangyari sa boses mo? Para kang fill-in-the-blanks!”

“Alam mo, feeling ko hindi ka talaga choppy kanina. ‘Yung boses mo talaga.”

Laughter. Oh, friends.

There was a program after the graduation rites, perhaps to give tribute to the graduates. For the record, it was the first time I drank a bottle of San Mig Light.

^ Together again. (Boo, Shasha.)

We made new friends, talked almost all night long, reminisced our high school days, and put Pat on the hot seat. And, well, I realized some things do not change after all. ;)
