Backtrack // MIBF: Worth it all
It was the 13th of September 2012, Thursday.
Net and I had it planned. Right after our class, we would go to EDSA Shangri-la for Cine Europa, then go to the SMX Convention Center for the 33rd Manila International Book Fair (MIBF).
“Net, wag na wag mo ako hahayaang bumili ng kahit anong libro! Unless kailangang-kailangan ko,” I made her promise me. I also promised myself that I will not buy any more books until I have finished reading all that I have shelved.
Funny thing though, the books were calling me.
Right after watching two movies in Cine Europa, we passed by Powerbooks.
On our way to have dinner at SM Mall of Asia, we walked by National Bookstore, Fully Booked, and Book Sale. It is not a shocker, I presume, then, that I bought books in MIBF. Seven books. Worth almost P2,500. The money intended for my OJT clothes shopping.
“Sabi ko, pigilan mo ako, e!”
“Paano kita pipigilan, e malingat lang ako, nasa cashier ka na [at] binabayaran na ‘yung mga libro!”
I admit: I am an impulsive buyer (of books).
I may have lost my savings but I know I have made long-term investments. •
