The truth about the untruth
(Disclaimer: This post has TMI.)
I am scared about a lot of things but that's okay. It makes me human. :)
— Cherry Mae Salazar (@CMGSalazar) March 3, 2014- I used to love chocolates, especially when I was in high school. For a few years, my sweet tooth has lost its knack for anything sweet and it’s only recently that I have gotten my love for chocolates back. The sad thing though is that my best friend Shasha who owes me a box of Ferrero has not paid her choco-debt still. Oh, and she is staying in Iloilo now. Bummer.
- The good thing is that we still have Nutella at home.
- As a woman, I take pride that I do not — and never have? — experience(d) any pre-menstrual symptom. When my period comes, it just... comes. But earlier this afternoon, I found it difficult to bear the abominable abdominal pain. Guess I lack exercise.
- I resigned from my job in the top-rating magazine show of a big broadcast media organization in the country last month. There had been a lot of reasons for me to leave and even my closest friends would persuade me to just quit. I chose to stay, and I stuck around for a couple of months. But well, it’s true: No reason to stay is enough reason to go. At least now, I can chase that which would make me happy and fulfilled in my life.
- I realized that while commitment is important, it should never suppress or invalidate one’s self-worth.
- Contrary to popular belief, no, I did not celebrate Valentine’s Day with that guy or the other guy or any other guy. Nothing “romantic” happened, but I am happy and blessed to have watched Wicked at the Cultural Center of the Philippines with my dearest and beloved Father. I love Glinda!

^ Just imagine how close we were to the stage!
- I have been invited as a guest speaker in an activity organized by SPU Manila’s mass communication students’ organization, of which I served as president in my senior year. I cannot be any prouder of the officers of this academic year and the next set of officers, for doing their jobs greatly and for continuing the programs I once initiated.

- There are a lot of realizations to share but I was not able to discuss them thoroughly during the forum, partly because I was sabog, partly because of the time constraint, partly because my intended audience were not present. I will probably just write them a letter or shoot a video of myself.
- I attended an Ehem! anti-corruption conference last month, and the following interpretation from a discussion penetrated my aortas and brain cells: Extinguishing corruption starts from “Tama lang ‘to!” to “Tama na ito!”, from “Tamaan sana kayo!” to “Tama na kayo!” and “Itatama ko ito!”. Loved the wordplay. Makes sense.
- As a journalist, my allegiance lies in truth and integrity, never in people, never in any media organization.
- True greatness is not measured by accomplishments and awards but by the number of people whose lives became better for having met you. A truly great person can interact with an ordinary man without any sign of social divide.
- Having been betrayed by someone is not enough reason to stop trusting. •
