Two idealists’ Sunday
I desperately needed to rest. So instead of spending my spare time doing research, or writing articles, or reading books, or reserving venues for ISMS activities, or sleeping, I decided to meet with my good friend and adviser, who also happened to be my former teacher, Sir Ed.
We attended the Feast PICC. I have been a Bo Sanchez fan since I started reading Kerygma (Hey, that was almost a decade ago!) and while I have attended other Kerygma Feasts, it was my first time to be at the Feast PICC. It did not shock me to see the place full-house; with the Feast, you expect things like that.
The theme was about loving your enemies. It is difficult a task but worth all the effort in the end. Believe me, it is not about bringing peace to your enemy but bringing peace to yourself. I learned this the painful way, and I have no regrets.
After the Feast, we had our lunch where we talked about life. I am an idealist, and Sir Ed is, too, something I just learned then. The thing about idealism is it’s hard to sustain, especially since the world operates in a completely different system. But I — we, I suppose — still choose to be idealists, anyway.
It also happened to be the last day of Cinemalaya, so we caught up and watched Diablo. The name makes it seem like a horror movie so I was hesitant at first. I went, anyway. And it is not actually a horror film.
After having watched Diablo, Sir Ed and I had to separate ways. I thought of going to the Cathedral of Praise and meet my friend David, but I had articles to write so I went back to the dormitory.
I ended up sleeping the afternoon away! And when I woke up, after having done my laundry, there was brownout. So I couldn’t do what I intended to do. Guess the day really was intended for my “rest”. •
