Leaving the light off
Every night in the past three weeks or so is a battlefield.
My phone is on silent with all notifications turned off. I breathe, I yawn, I close my eyes. Everything’s set, but sleep has gotten elusive again.
The stress at work seems to never be enough to bring me to slumber. I try to do more work, yet no matter how exhausted I am when I come home, my body still won’t let me sleep until it sees the morning sky.
Whenever this happens, I tend to keep the light on. But I’d rather not. Not this time. •
