On happiness
My best friend celebrated his birthday yesterday, but, still, he was the one making me happy — or rather, I was the one being made happy.
Before the night ended, he lent me his USB flash drive, as I had asked him to get me a copy of some time-lapse video of flowers blooming, which I recently saw on YouTube. Being the ever-dependable man that he is, Nigel delivered what I wanted — and more.
There were other files inside his external drive, which I did not specifically request for — such as other time-lapse videos, audio files of ocean waves, comic book files, and a Zony and Yony dance cover. All of which are surefire ways of etching a smile on my face, enough to get me through a hard, boring, unproductive day. (God knows how much I need stress in my life right now.)
As I was rummaging through the folders and its content, I saw a text document, oddly locked, saved as Hello!.txt. Being the occasionally curious cat that I am, I opened the file and saw what has to be the sweetest unexpected letter I have ever received so far.
I spotted three errors in this note, but I am letting these pass, Nigel.
There are many other things that could make me happy — stars, sandcastles, the right songs, Demi Lovato - but you have left out one of the most important items on the list: you.
I am happy, truly. Thank you. More please? •
